Motorcyclists from all over the UK, starting from various points (North, East, South and West) will meet up in their major cities at a pre-determined time. They then move to the next city in the route and join up with others. Collecting for the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal at each city along the way.
The ultimate end point is The National Motorcycle Museum in Sollihull, West Midlands who have donated the use of their facilities for this event. At there museum there wil be an auction of the items donated by companies and racing teams.
Check here to see what's going on. http://motorcycleas.org.uk/

Apparently Ted Simon will be there acting as auctioneer in a charity auctiion.
Have registered on the site & am thinking of going along on Sunday (weather permitting) with the missus.
Will be part of the North London meet, leaving from the Ace cafe. Anyone else thinking of doing this?

Yup,
I'm coming down with a few chums & meeting with a Nottingham crowd to make our way to the museum. See ya there.
Chris.

Were you there?
I counted 3 other twins in the carpark. A RW&B (yr 2000+) covered in touratech stickers, a '99 Black with a strange looking flip screen & givi pannier racks, and a silver 97/98 that I recognised from the Horizons meet last year.

Hello Gibbo,
Yup the Rw&b @ is mine. Came down from Notts, about 60 of us. Only @ in our bunch though! Even so, one of the road leaders was on an old Dominator. Leader was Bikegirl (probably saw her. She has bright pink hair!). Which was your @ so I can put a name to a bike!

Gibbo,
You say you were at Horizons meet last year. On Sunday I travelled down with Glen, This year's annual meet organizer. It's on June 24-26th. up here in sunny Derbyshire. Are you going? If so drop Glen a E.mail & get your name down for the Sat. green lane ride out, cos. places are limited this year. They are not too gnarly, they are all big trailies going along. It'll be a good laugh!
Chris.
Mine was the other black one there. Flip screen, headlight protector, T.Tech racks & bars, parked up in front of a yellow triumph. We only had a dozen or so in our group from London, to be honest I was a bit dissapointed in the whole thing. I left before the end of the auction.
As for Horizons, yeah - I must get our registration in. We have been to the last 2. We have previously done the easy off-road rideouts (lead by Ian on the XR650) cos my wife usually comes as well. This year I might do the "hard" off-road rideout if I am on my own.
Looking forward to it - they are always good weekends.

I also left just as that kn*bhead took over on the megaphone & nobody could hear. I felt embarrassed for him! I know it was for a good cause and would have gone anyway but everyone was just ambling around like lost sheep! On doos like that you need a bit of 'crack' which is what it was lacking. Good to see someone else who actually uses their @ & doesn't just sit about & polish & talk about it!
Anytime you Southerners fancy a tour around the Peak District drop me line & I'll get it sorted. Fab trails & roads round here!
p.s. I speak your lingo, I worked in Canning town & the CTRL link for near on 8 years.
Keep on ridin',
Chris.
Yep - Ted Simon wasnt a very good autioneer. He is a bit of a legend in touring circles though - aparently his book "Jupiters Travels" is very good.
He didnt last long, the other guy came back & took over but by then half the people had drifted off and the momentum was lost.
I would love a day or 2 doing the trails around the Peak District. Will definately take you up on that one.
