I have just fitted a scottoiler to my 04 TA. Straightforward enough with a nice pic from the Scottoiler site. I have mine set near the max to get one drop every 1min 5secs.
Wondered as my Bandit 12 is adjusted further down the scale to give a better flow rate. I wonder would it have a significantly greater vacuum or have I missed something. Vacuum is installed were scottoiler suggest on the ta.
Anyone any thoughts.

P.S. Took the ta down the Co Down coast on Sunday to Carlingford Lough. After the crappy weather it was just brilliant to ride in the sunshine and enjoy the scenery.

Don't panic, it's all down to where the reservoir is, how high above the ground and possibly the angle it's positioned at. All the vacuum does is open or close a valve the same amount regardless of the vacuum pressure.

Dear yen
Thank you for the advice it does seem to work perfectly well and the angle rather than the location it is on compared to my bandit12 is very different.
Many thanks

Hi JAK
Just read your thread, same bikes, same country. I went for a nice spin to Blessington lakes last weekend, nice drive, sunny day!
Where else have you been thats a good spin out in Ireland, or do you know of any websites, books etc that list such stuff?

thanks
Chucky

p.s. please don't take any offence from my handle, its been the same for years of online gaming - I got sick of everyone being called Cuchalainn or Gandalf, and besides the yanks think I'm one of their own!

Dear Chucky

No offence taken. Do most of my riding in the North. Some great roads and very few cameras but lots of mobile traps. Favourite runs would be from Larne up the east coast through the Glens of Antrim to Portrush and on to londonderry plus the county down one I mentioned which takes in the Mournes and Silent valley reservoir. There is some nice riding in Donegal and some guys I know like to go from Magilligan in the North over on the ferry and down through Donegal to Sligo returning via Enniskillen.

I spend some time in Donegal and down in Mayo. The TA is very suitable for this type of work and I hope over the next few months to take a trip down there. I have a Bandit 12 also but feel the TA is much more suitable for the type of journey and the roads we have off the beaten track in Ireland.

Sorry no maps or websites. tend to just think of where I would like to go and just go for the day. I have a wife who understands me.

Scottoiler has worked out well thanks to yen's advice and reassurance. Also fitted a set of Givi crash bars but have since seen Touratech ones which look to blend with the side panels better.

Enjoy the bike and keep in touch if you find anywhere really nice. Just thought Wexford down to Kilmore Quay or on out to Waterford may be nice but the west is hard to beat.

regards

Hi Jak
I've been to Antrim / Portrush / Port Stewart before - lovely scenery, and I'd guess good fun on the bike on twisty roads. I did a drive from Belfast to Londonderry as well which was a great spin, stopping off at the pub on the top of the pass - I think it was called something from a TV western show?
I've spent a lot of time in Wexford in the last year - bought a mobile home there two years ago - great for the kids. The driving is nice down there particularly inland to Waterford via ferry in Passage East, and the roads/scenery etc in Kilmore and around the Hook are great. Go fishing out of Kilmore for the day/half day if you get a chance, its great fun and they supply all the kit so you won't need to carry anything.
I'll let you know if I find some good routes.

I think the Gardai only have 2 or three mobile vans in the south 2 white 1 green, and a few handheld radars, but the cases are getting thrown out of court at the moment because you the handhelds don't produce aa printout!

With no inter country transfer of penalty points you're better driving in the south and me in the north!

Best regards
Chucky

Done some of these roads and agree they are good. .... got to go west for the spectacular scenery though........
Have a look at the 'camping weekend 2005' thread...... looking for ideas

I've got a Transalp with scottoiler and live in Ireland too :-)

Scottoiler needs refitting as it's not running correctly - the reservior only goes to 3/4 empty as some of the tubing is routed too high - i keep putting it ont he elongated digit!

Can see some photos here of the hills on the Donegal side of the Foyle if you were to get the ferry over from Magilligan to Greencastle:
