I'm thinking of fitting crashbars to my '01 650.

Who has what?
Easy to fit?
Cost?
Servicing possible without removal?

Cheers

I've got touratech - weren't that easy to fit, but have proved their worth once :(

Manage to do most jobs with them still fitted, but no doubt they'll have to come off one day....

Take a look here:

Easy to fit and good if you have to remove the tank.

Hi Recycler
I've got Givi crash bars. £70 to buy from R F Linton's in Ballymena, Co Antrim. Reasonably easy to fit but needed an extra pair of hands as I had to remove existing centre stand bolt and replace with the one supplied as I could not get the nut started with the centre stand bolt. The extra pair of hands was very necessary.

Look well but i see Fat John has the Touratech ones and I do feel they look smarter than mine and would protect more of the upper plastics of the bike. However in the event of a spill I think the Givi bars would do the job adequately. Hopefully will not find out anytime soon.

Jak

i've got touratech...... which are very well made and cost £140 incl postage...........which are still in the garage because i havent got round to fitting!.........which i should have done because it toppled off its side stand yesterday morning whilst i was cleaning it!!!!! DOH! Still I got off very lightly with just a scuffed hand guard and broken brake lever, no panel damage at all!! got a new lever from Hein Gerike in Maidstone today, who were absolute stars!!!one of the staff (sam) got her husband to bring it down from ilford for me to collect next day! be fitting crash bars very very soon methinks

As far as I know the touratech website has a piccy - lacking a digital camera I can't be of much help to you I'm afraid.

i had motad desert bars on my @ which were worth their weight in gold.it must have gone down the road about 6 or 7 times without damaging the bike. the only thing they seem to have a problem with is the weld breaks (before crashing!). not sure why, maybe vibration. i've heard of several owners having the same problem. anyway get friendly with a local welder who has stainless welding rods!
