well, just done my first 1000 miles!!!!!! many more to come. few niggles mind. engine is still quite tight even though i've been hammering the tits out of it!!!!! dont think the build quality is up to hondas normal standards. the previous ta 600 and at were better build quality. but.............. good fun to ride!

Glad you're happy apart from the niggles.
I used to enjoy the A22 when I lived in Sussex........plus the A272 - now that was tops (apart from lots of coppers).

Enjoy the bike.

Onya Sean,
The tits won't fall off, neither will your smile as it gets a few more miles on it.
Mine now has 6,000ks, economy is better, engine slightly looser and will hit redline in 5th ( given the space and copper free roads ).
Indeed, I geared it up one tooth on the front sprocket and will now do an indicated 185kph at 8,200 rpm in 5th. This is at the expense of tractability in 1st and a definitely slower acceleration rate especially in 4th and 5th gears.
Found the fairing/wind sweet spot at 130 to 140kph sitting bolt upright - fast enough to lose your license if caught.

first 10,000 miles now! few hiccups with handling, but no problems with reliability. used 1 x set of rear brake pads and 2 rear tyres, 2 front tyres. using it to commute to southend and london. so if you see a fat knacker on a black 54 reg transalp with staintune and panniers, crashbars and no paitience give me a wave!

fair bit of mileage mate in 7 months, good to see someone else making a myth out of dealers supposed 4000 a year as normal, twats!! I did 36k last year on three different bikes

Got nearly 5K on mine since June, and it gets better and better despite the best efforts of the dealer. It came back from PDI, 900 and 4000 mile services, each time overfilled with oil. Not exactly confidence inspiring. I've been taking it to the supplying dealer (a Honda main agent), in order to get the service book stamped so if I ever decide to sell I can say 'FHSH', but so far, every single thing they have done I could have done better myself. Trying to decide if the money I'd save by DIY servicing is worth risking the warranty for!

34,000 miles, only ever had the 1st service done at the dealers (adjusted chain too tight, over inflated tyres and didn't check half of what they'd ticked off on the service sheet  ).

Only problems todate: had to regrease rear brake lever (seized), fitted new thermosat, and the bloody headlight bulb blew !

also done 5500 miles in the last year and half on my busa, it would have been more but due to the rate it goes through tyres i really couldnt afford it (5 rears and 3 fronts!!!!),done 7500 miles since july last year on my sv650 as well!

today its in for it's 16,000 service (2 yrs free unlimited mileage servicing) yet another rear tyre and new brake pads all round! (4000 miles for front and rear pads!) going ok other than corrosion on the rear rim and the spokes but i'm going to argue the toss with honda over them! :D :D currently covering about 600 - 700 miles mon to fri!

Sean just out of interest, have you had the head race steering bearings changed at all and if you did, what mileage, or mileages?
My TA just a fraction over 3 year old now 10,000 miles under its wheels and its in for the head race bearings. Not impressed given the low mileage.

hi the headrace bearings were replaced around the 12k mark. they were replaced under warranty however. they are just starting to go notchy again at 30k. i had real problems with my africa twin going through head bearings but as soon as i stopped using genuine honda bearings they lasted ages! i guess when these get too bad i'll get a decent set on non genuine fitted! one thing i will say though is that i'm a fat ******* and i tend to have the panniers and top box full of gear all the time and i tend to ride like a knob, heavy braking etc so i have contributed to their wearing out really. 10,000 miles is crap for head bearings though.

Blimey - I feel like a right fair weather biker in this thread  :) Mine's just clicked over 6000 and that includes two national rallies and an iron butt 1000 mile run in 24 hours :?

I ride it every day, but my commutes only 6 miles  :D , AND I must add that I've saved it from the ravages of last winter by running a cg125 instead of my pride and joy.

Only niggle I still have with the bike is that neutral can be a bugger to find at times, more so when I've come to a halt, but that might be connected to the bent gearshift from when I every so gently dropped it

Sean, I've still never managed to get those crash bars or to meet up with you to see how they look on yours but I've not forgotten. Maybe one day soon.

40k now. changed tyres to pirelli scorpian s/t, much better than tourances especially in the wet! usual pads and servicing, chain and sprokets have covered 18k with scotoiler. just starting to get a little corrosion at the front of the engine cases. clutch cable may need replacing soon due to being graunchy(?). other than that all is well! :D may try and suss out how to put pic up at some stage!

Sounds more like clutch cable adjustment if it's only neutral you have trouble with. Quick check, can you knock it into neutral more easily if you do it just before you roll to a stop, or after you've stopped the engine?
