Hello,
I'm new here, very happy to find a forum about 'Alp !

It's my second 'Alp (2003) , 40.000 Km , 100Km a day .

What about the longevity of such a bike ?
every 6000 Km she is going to the maintenance (semi-synth. oil)

How much Km/miles can I ask to my lovely Blackpearl ?

Many thanks

There's a guy on here called Eugen who racked up..well, I'll let him tell you as I can't remember exactly, but it was a lot anyway - around 100k miles I think.

All japanese engines require regular oil and filter changes with a high quality oil.

Hello Louis, unless something goes very wrong you should see over 100,000 miles on the clock before you need to do something major. Even cam chains seem to last up to that mark, although they may need looking at by 70,000. Around that mileage the clutch will probably start to slip, but this is an easy thing to fix. Other things like bearings are variable - I got 50,000 miles out of my last TA wheel bearings, although the head bearings went around 40,000 on both my TAs. I sold my last TA with (I think) 68,000 miles on it, and it still pulled strongly, using little oil. In the 49,000 miles it had done since I got it, it needed the valves adjusting only once.

I'd say, stick to the standard air filter - I've heard bad things about K&N. I change my oil (mineral rather than synthetic, and formulated for turbodiesel cars - it's cheaper and contains higher phosphorus and no friction modifiers) every 4,000 miles, and now I change the oil filter every other oil change, using pattern filters rather than Honda ones. I'm currently on 51,000 on my 2001 AT, and expect to make it to the 100,000 mark with no real problems. I do 3,500 miles a month by the way, so by August or September next year I should be about there! From your daily mileage I assume you ride your TA pretty constantly (i.e., not stop-start riding), so yours should last longer one that is used for short journeys and never gets warmed up properly. These are among the toughest motorcycle engines ever made, I recon! With your mileage

Stig
