Just ducked out to look at my bike.
To get coolant top off:
1) Unclip the coolant top clip
2) Unscrew the coolant top

Does it unclip by pushing it in towards the bike - I didn't want to push too hard -
And that means 17" then ?
Thanks a mill

The clip is held on by a nut and bolt so you'll need to remove the nut and bolt to get the clip off.
Unsure whether it's 17" ... perhaps someone else could shed light on that one?

Thanks everyone
Made the trip ok equipped with a can of Tyreweld and an 18" tube - I'll change it tomorrow!!! :D
Tyreweld fits nicely under the seat - got me thinking -
What do you carry as spares/emergency stuff and where do you put it?
I think the tube will go where the rear light is.
Cheers

I carry loads and thats probably why I never need it.
Tyre weld, torch, clutch cable & zip ties in top box.
Small tool roll with decent tools, fuses, bulbs, gaffer tape & small pot of grease under the seat.
I think the most essential 3 are Tyre Weld, bulbs & clutch cable - my brother in law was stranded for 6 days in France when the cable on his Tiger snapped - Triumph UK were no help on the phone, luckily a French dealer went through his stock and found one that was roughly the same.
Well worth carrying one as they take up no room and are cheap.
I think breakdown cover is all well and good but I don't want to be up in the Alps with no phone signal, waiting for hours for the sake of a few quids worth of bits & bobs.
