Even Pete used to be here until he went to the dark side and bought his Strom....and then all the bikes that followed. He still pops in occasionally.

thanks for the comments about the pictures, I donīt know why they are so small since the place where I linked them from had big pictures.
I posted them before in my ride reports along with a text explaining, over at www.dualsportuk.com , with the bigger sizes, so if you want better quality pics either check them out or please explain how to post them properly

You only click on them to get the bigger size.
They are reduced down as some of our users are still on smaller screens.

The next ones were taken during a stop on my Monday ride, I wasnīt working and thought it was a good idea to go ride along the Douro river under a bit of rain, these were taken from under a bus stop, while I decided wether to continue with the ride or not, eventually, when I got back on the road, the mud slides made my choice easier.

bet that cobble stone rd was a bit hairy
not really a problem, they were just a wee bit slippery from the rain, that place is a bit high and cold in the winter, it frequently freezes over, then it must get hairy.

And then, the climb towards the mountains

A huge burned area, it wasnīt black last winter, the first time I saw this after the fire I was devastated
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a124/peterocky/queda%20na%20freita/quedanafreita032.jpg
Then, I got on a trail, a rocky trail, easy at first
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a124/peterocky/queda%20na%20freita/quedanafreita035.jpg
but then it all went wrong, the trail got very steep and loose, so that when I had to turn back I fell a number of times, everytime lifting the bike and being unable to make any upwards progress, ending up slipping and falling a couple more meters. While taking a rest I took this picture.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a124/peterocky/queda%20na%20freita/quedanafreita036.jpg
Eventually I fell harder and decided to quit, so I left the bike behind and went to call for help where I had phone signal. The end of the story went something like this: I spent all afternoon waiting for help and part of the early night walking on the dark deserted roads while in search of my "rescue team", eventually finding them well after sunset, cold and hungry. We had to leave the bike overnight :( and return the next morning with a firefighterīs Land Rover and winch it up. Appart from a few scratches on the fairing and crashbars, along with the brake pedal and lower right side, I discovered I had burned most of my clutch discs, so my babyīs now under the caring eyes of my dealerīs mechanic while waiting for parts to make her better again. Hopefully Iīll have her back by Friday.
Hereīs where the full writeup and a couple more pics are: http://www.maximumbikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5526

Thanks guys, turns out my clutch plates had to be changed, it was slipping too much on first and the feel wasnīt good. Eventually it would have held for a few kms more but was beyond itīs useful life. It was completely my fault since I abused it too much trying to get out after being too tired to properly push the bike.
I got it back yesterday and as my mechanic told me: "It feels like a new clutch" hehehe

Well guys, hereīs another update, these pictures were taken last Saturday on a little ride to the Serra do Caramulo.
Just before finding my first dirt roads of the day:

Entering a trail on some farmerīs service road:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a124/peterocky/pistas%20caramulo/21-01-2006007.jpg
For a moment I though things were going to get nasty, but it turned out to be an easy one:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a124/peterocky/pistas%20caramulo/21-01-2006006.jpg
Stopped for a moment to take a couple of pics of what you saw from the road, first to the right and then to the left:

Getting on a very nice couple of miles of dirt road:

Taking a small break after the previous road:

And a closer detail:

I guess Iīm pretty blessed with good weather regarding most of you guys, though it does have a downside, this yearīs summer was spent in severe draught, but it seems this winter is making up for it with enough rain.
The bad thing about those dirtroads was their short distance, they always turned out to be a a dead end, and one only managed to do about 2 or 4 kms in each one before the end.

Just like Wales but with sun instead of rain, open access trails instead of TROs, and clear roads instead of gridlock. I can identify with that!
