View Full Version : hastings shakedown run
i know its a bit early yet, but do any of you guys do the shakedown run on the first bank holiday in may . its the largest unofficial run in the country. a lot of people meet up at locksbottom in kent and then ride down in one bloody great group. ive done this a few times and its bonkers.
now i just ride straight to hastings see the sights . bikes. and festival that go on down there. 8) some yrs there has been aprox 40.000 bikes down there  it makes for a good day out , and a good wake up for those who like to hibernate
ho hum that'll be a no then :(
normally leave hastings early go fo a good thrap up to locksbottom and then back to hastings, abit slower on the way back due to the sheer numbers and then down to rye for fish and chips then back home to hastings! too many little turds on scooters lately though!
wey hey a reply good on ya fella. it makes for a great day out see ya down there 8)

most ive managed is 165 on a 750 gixer on the A13 at 11.30pm when the opened the new stretch . fack that woz fast enough for me  it took about 20 mins for me to come down off the adrenalin . better than drugs
coming back at about 1.30 in the morning going for it again narrowly missed a **** crossing the central reservation at about 145mph   it scared the crap out of me and ive never done it again
mind you though i wouldnt mind wringing the neck of a busa or zx12r on a track or deserted road 8) 8) 8) 8)
riding on of those must feel like having your arse strapped to a missile
it does wonders for your forward vision and makes you verrrry paranoid!!! i've had it deristricted, akrapovic carbon cans, piper cross filter, and power commander fitted and so far have managed to get it redlining in 6th only 3 times!!!! in 5500 miles its done 5 rear tyres and 3 fronts, 2 sets of front brake pads and 1 rear set!!!! but good fun!!!

Ahhh, so you're one of those young whippersnappers who come roaring past my backdoor
Actually that is rather "quick" :notworthy: :salute:
AND LOOK OUT FOR THAT DAMN TRUEVELO CAMERA
used to go past it every day as fast as i could giving the one fingered wave untill i shot past it at well over 100mph and thank god someone flashed me coming the other way. the scamera tax collectors had obviously taken exception and set up a mobile cash point just over the brow of the hill. took it a bit slower just there after that!!!
Von Short Hausen where are you in tonbridge? i used to live in st marys road and spent many legless nights/weekends in the foresters arms pub!!!

I'm up near West Kent College (off Brook St) :hello2:
Not too good with Tonbridge pubs. I don't get to do much drinking nowadays - my employers have a 'Zero Tolerance' scheme towards alcohol (and I don't want to caught by their Weewee Police :sad5: )
man it must be mind numbing sitting in that train all day

Believe it or not..it isn't. Our trains are so cr*p that everyday brings a new challenge, and a major plus point is that I can tank along at 100 without getting nicked, and I don't have taxis or busses pulling out in front of me.
100 without getting nicked 8) 8)
i want a job that allows me to do that
