I used Inox fasteners before, they're agents for some crowd.
Inox isn't a brand it's continental for Stainless Steel, lots of stuff is marked Inox including Sabatier knives and kitchen sinks.
Sorry, that should have been a Capital F.... very helpful chap called John Kemp runs the show and they're agents for Earl's braided hoses. www.inoxgrp.co.uk
Chad, 'fraid my machine's only ton and a half :( , so those pipes should do just fine!!!
well started on the @ to today stripped off all panels ,tank etc as you can see the mud from the plains has got everywhere and these pics were after a good hose down
all the bodywork is now at the sprayers ( i dropped them off to him about an hour ago) and looking forward to the end result . :D
now its time for lots of TLC , coffee, and alcohol, in times of stress

Chad, what is the aim of all this? Why you doing so much work?
well i like my bikes to stand out a bit . but the previous owner had stripped of the stickers and it didnt look quite right . i had to do things like wheel bearings and head races and thing just got out of hand .
mainly ive had quite a few different bikes but none have given me the grin factor of the @ so i will be keeping her for a very long time.
and in a sadistic way i love fettling
its quiet in the garage just me , tools , the bike and a beer
as long as you do it in that order and don't let the beer make you make mistakes! :D

whilst we are on the subject of brakes aprox two weeks ago i decided to give mine a sort out checked the rear pads were shot so put in new pads gave the caliper a good clean up,then moved to the fronts pads ok gave the calipers a clean up all finished with a sence of satisfaction :D
imagine my suprise on saturday when i thought i'll clean out the garage went to move the bike to find the front brakes binding like a ba@#tard  so i stripped the calipers off pushed the pistons out to find some grot further in and the dust cover seals totally shot. its 330pm . so i phone m+p no chance , then david silvas .closed, then called lings on01379 853213 they were very helpfull and had the parts on the shelf .the guy said the seals would be posted first thng monday for the next day :D i also phoned the powder coaters on sat and threw some grade A f@#ks into them and the promised me the bits would be done for monday so if all go's well i will be a busy boy tuesday night

Chad
That's a really nice shiny blue, looks much better in the daylight, what paint did you use for the plastics, ordinary car spray tins? any primer? or was it done "professionally"?
Thinking of getting my tank powdercaoted white as a base then painting over it anybody know if I need a special paint for this?
the paint was done by a mate that works in a ford body shop . the colour is the one that fords use on the ST220 it is a stunning colour im really pleased with it. :D
if you went for gloss powdercoating you wouldnt need to coat it because if the companys good the finish is excellent . i used a different company to my usaul one because they said they could do it quicker big mistake i ended up waiting 3 weeks
the place ive used in the past is called vulcans and the finish of their work is excellent. the finish i've gone for on theseparts is satin black and its bloody loverly. also you can have a choice of around 80 different colours.
these places bake the powder coating at very high temperatures so i dont know how that would affect a fuel tank
Dilbert
23-12-05, 04:43 PM
I would be powdercaoting the tank to get a background colour and then painting red and blue stripes to bring it back to (something like) the original colour scheme.
Yes high temp could affect the tank, but then again so could the shot blasting to clean it up to start off with, I used to get a lot of powder coating done on sheet metal at the company I worked at, we never had much of a problem with distortion from either process, just need to make sure it's well and truly empty and free from vapour before it goes near the gas oven!
Dilbert
23-12-05, 04:47 PM
Some cars and bikes have a Manchester reg round here along the lines of X???MEN, now you would have to paint that black all over, with maybe claw marks down the petrol tank
i think the only problem you would have is if your over laying stripes is the rubbing down process in that area. a good sprayer would be able to do this in normal paint give me a few minutes and i will post a pic of my last bike to give you an idea :D
have a look at this :D
http://www.xrv.org.uk/getimage.php?id=1388
these stripes go from the front over to the back this was by the same sprayer 8) he laid the white pearlecent coat down first then masked out the stripes and laid on the blue :D
did you notice its the same as the @ i loved it so much i had to have it again
Dilbert
23-12-05, 05:17 PM
Sweet...and yes it's a nice blue, I know about rubbing down and prep' for the second colour, just wanted to see if there are any problems with paint over powdercoat (adhesion/ thermal expansion/ chemical compatibility).
I also want to paint at least part of the engine gloss black, any recommendations on paint type?
depending on if you do it yourself i think that dare i say this name(halfords) do a high temp paint but i dont know if it comes in a range of colours. but i think that 2pac paint has quite a high resistance to tempature any way. im not sure if powder coating is suitable for engine parts cases etc because of getting a good clean finish on the edges of the mating surfaces :? it would be interesting to find out though :D
Chad, it's a beaut! Worth waitng for  Did you do anything to the engine? or was that pretty clean already? Make sure you don't get it dirty now

what would the world come to with no punctuation
Funny enough, the site's spellchecker ignores punctuation. Write I'd and it sees only id, write I'm and it sees only im (and suggests Iamb).
Perhaps the spell checker has stolen the punctuation.
These computery things are taking over the world you know!
