Its on - off roading in Galloway forest.
Date is the weekend of 13th/14th/15th April. Arrive Friday 13th, set up camp, socialise, eat&drink. Ride through the forest on Saturday 13th leaving at 9.30 to 10am. The ride will be about 150miles in total about half of which is on forestry tracks. There is fuel near the start, after about 25miles, 75miles and back near the end. The off road bit is most of the middle section of the ride and concludes with a ride up a 2000 foot mountain. The tracks are easy well graded forestry tracks easily doable on an AT, a TA, a Vara, a GS and even on an R1200RT (although easy might not be correct in that case).
The Scottish Forestry Commission charge for access to the forest, last year it was £100 plus £5 per bike. Assuming its the same I will need £10 off each rider. Post me cash, a cheque (pay Austin Winckler) or bank transfer - same as last year if you have it or pm or mail me for details. Post to Baron Austin von Winckler, 40 Croston Road, Garstang, Lancashire, PR3 1HR.
There is a limit of 25 riders.
I need to have a copy of your motorcycle insurance in my hands by Monday 9th April to send onto the SFC so they know paricipants are legit and sticking to rules of the event that I have agreed with them: email austin-at-winckler-dot-org-dot-uk (without the dashes) or post as above.
Base for the weekend is the Galloway Activity Centre, Loch Ken. Link Camping costs £7.50 per person per night. In addition to the camping there are various accomodation options as below. Please book direct with the campsite if you want to take them up.
Bunkhouse 4 people per room (4 rooms available) @ £16.50pp per night
Large Cabin 4-6 people @ £75.00 per night
Small Cabin 2 people per cabin (3 cabins available) @ £34.00 per night
Yurt 6 people @ £80.00 per night (1 Yurt available)
Tipi 4-6 people @ £60.00 per night (1 Tipi available)
The camping is all sorted too. I will be providing the campsite with a list of names - real and forum names. When you arrive report to reception to book in and pay and make sure your name is checked against the list. If no one is around just pitch your tent near the big climbing tower and deal with reception later.
I have completed the SFC's application form, updated the risk assessment, and we have a public liabilty insurance policy courtesy of daveS and the forum.
Next post has list of participants - first 25 get to go, rest are on the reserve list. It will go in the calendar too.
I have probably forgotten some stuff so keep checking back here for updates - which will be clearly identified.
