Helmets with Removable linings

What are people's thoughts on the best helmets to get which have removable linings for washing?

Not sure I can get my head into an Arai, coulndn't last time I tried, so I am thinking of either a Schuberth or and Arai X-Spirit. Schuberth has flip down "shades" in it so that is kind of appealing, but haven't tried one on yet.

Re: Helmets with Removable linings

Arai has 2 different head shapes, mind you. I'm not sure which models are which, but the Freeway and Quantum/F fit me, and the SZ definitely doesn't.

Apparently they have different head shapes for different markets, the japanese get a different shape for the same model we get here, that probably doesn't help you much but it's good to know.

Re: Helmets with Removable linings

For ages I wanted to get a helmet with a removable liner and last year I finally did.
And I'm not that impressed .
I bought an arai and it has a skull cap and cheekpads that come out but a sort of cuff around the back of the neck and forehead that doesn't. Where the liner meets the forehead is a bit uncomfortable for me. I imagined something that I could throw in the washing machine and then stick on a radiator but it's too delicate for that.
When I had an arai without the liner I just used to wash the whole thing and it wasn't any more hassle than taking out the liner anyway. If (when) I buy again it won't be on the list of requirements.
When I was shopping I did however like the HJC liners which are one piece, didn't like the helmets though.

Re: Helmets with Removable linings

My Arai tour-X and my Thor MX have removable liners - the Arai has elasticated covers over the pad that come off, the Thor doesn't. Both are easy enough to take to bits but I'm a bit peeved at the amount of stuff thats in contact with me so getting sweaty/worn that I cant take off with the Arai - its not going to get cleaned right if I cant get it out now is it..... The Thor comes completely to bits but its not getting much use now as the tour-X is much quieter, but i must admit that its snug across my Neanderthal brow, not uncomfortable, but if I was to nut something it might hurt..........
