i remember an article in BIKE magazine a few years ago about them trying out different running in proceedures on new cbr600's, going through the running in and then stripping down the motor at 1000mi to see what was what.
if i remember right the best way they found was to thrash the ******** off it from zero miles until the 600mi service, ditch the old oil and filter then ride as normal.
great, but they get given their bikes, i have to pay for mine, and how will the engine do in the next decade i would expect to own it?
