Re: CDI units
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant, how many models of CDI? My bike has two, but I don't know if they are the same model/part number/specification as those listed for other years of the bike.

Re: CDI units
my 1994 has 2 cdis
The differences are around the advance its 10 btdc at idle maxing out to 30 at 4500rpm to 5000 rpm depending on year, I think the data is in the haynes manual anyway I use an ignetic unit as a spare for my XLV 750R, its fitted at the moment as I have had the stator rewound (I will fit it this winter and put the old cdis back ), I have had it on some 3000 miles including the lands end to john o groates thing so its been well tested.. brand new they do one for the AT, so they will map one for the alp 140 euro and it replaces both cdis.. worth considering Ray Last edited by raymo; 22-11-08 at 06:12 PM. |

Re: CDI units
http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm I have the dc cdi p2 they will fit compatable connectors so its plug and play, they program it to match the ignition curve, I just sent them the section in the manual, you can tweak it if you like, as they give you the program on a cd but no real need ... it can do alot more too ,you get a cd with the loaded program and the software to change it I contacted them ( Jan ) by email they were very helpfull and it worked first time I posted on the XLV750R yahoo site, as the ignition system is a weak point for these bikes ,the CDIs are powered from coils in the stator, which fail, the unit from ignitech is DC powered so no need to rewind the stator, now quite a few folk have gone this route.. as I said in my last post , I have had a spare stator rewound, and will revert back to the old cdis, just to see if there is a real difference.... Main advantage is that you get new kit with back-up and can tune it if you know what your doing I am just happy to have the bike running , but may play over the winter ray Last edited by raymo; 19-11-08 at 05:49 PM. |

Re: CDI units
Here's the part number 30410MM9008, which you can get from Honda and also David Silvers, but both will have to order in for you, and Silvers are the cheapest at around £111 each.... But I looked around and here's where I got my replacments from BOITIER CDI HONDA XLV 600 TRANSALP NEUF !!!! on eBay (end time 06-Jul-10 15:54:36 BST) and the price has dropped as well since I bought mine... bugger....
Alternatively... if yours are knackered and you are in need of replacments then DON'T buy any just yet....!!!! I'll explain.... I bought two new ones as was having problems with my bike (see my thread in the Transalp forum... Help... my Alp keeps dying...!!! ) but even after the new CDI's were fitted, I still had the problem... which turned out to be the Pulse coils and NOT the CDI's.... So what I'm saying is that I have two spare CDI's (the ones I took out of my bike), which still work fine... and could be for sale, if you want them.....???

Re: CDI units
thanks titch
The XLV750R is not common at all here in OZ Its not running right just yet, got to recheck the carbies as the son may have mixed a couple of things up. We like the idea of a stand alone system that does not rely on the frail coils in the stator. if all else fails i can buy a build your own "ecu" and coil drivers that is fully programable capable of runnung 1-12 cylinders. Its only a simple and small system Costs about $200au (140 eur) but have to program, wire and setup But i thought if the ignitech cdi system was still available and seems relatively cheap even to get it to Australia and set up ready to go, would be the way to go. |
