The motor oil that Hondas likes best .

I live with my Honda AX-1 ( Nx250) for almost 16 years .

About motor oil , I have use few brands , but the one that my motorcycle disliked most , was the Motul one .

The gear box , started to loose control with it .

Recently , I decide to use what Honda (in Greece) thinks as best , and got from their channel ARAL semi synthetic , that it did work well .

In about 1000 Km , I would need my next oil exchange ...

So , I like to hear your own stories , about the motor oil , that your Honda likes best .

On this note and not wishing to hijack thread, would there be any problem with using Castro GTX Magnotec 10-40, on my '88 Alp?

Faster......no chance.....I'm an old plodder, but thats really why I'm asking, I have some, a mate was emigrating to Aus and gave me 10l and at the price oil is would be a shame not to use it, just don't want it to muck up the internals.

Totally miss read your reply dooh been a long night shift The bike is all ready just waiting for new log book, been 4 weeks now, DVLA are quick enough to send out tax reminders but replacement log books takes forever. then I can get the MOT sorted and all being well will be able to make the Cat and Fiddle run and a jaunt across to Jellys beginning of June with a few mates. I use halfords 10/40 semi synth and have no problems with it. Gears seem a lot smoother with it compared to when I had to Silkoleen (or what ever it's called)

I don't know if that bike has a wet clutch, if it does that oil might contaminate your friction plates and cause clutch slip, requiring the plates replaced. Its always best to use oil designed for bikes

I have use Car Oil , on my bike , never seen a negative symptom.

I believe that dual sport bikes engines , are made with deferent standards ,
than race street bikes.

The only know additional on motor oils , its teflon , that the gosup advices,
to not be used on motorcycles.

As the idea of teflon , was invented so to treat internal hot spots of the engine.
Our liquid cooled engines , does no have such needs.

I would never use car engine oil in a bike for exactly that reason. Not an issue on things like Ducatis as the have a dry clutch. I've used Castrol GPS Semi-Synthetic 10W/40 for the last 30,000 miles on the Dominator with no issues at all.
