Re: Rear light LED on Givi Top Box

Got myself some of that marine reflector tape - spot on!!

Immense reflection from any light source even through the red lense, might be adding in other places too.

With out any lights from behind

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/members...ure2063-3.html

With a small torch from low angle:

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/members...ure2061-1.html

Same torch from beside camera:

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/members...ure2062-2.html

With no lights on the bike and torch pointed at rear wheel:

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/members...ure2064-4.html

Same but torch pointed at bike from low down:

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/members...ure2065-5.html

And again from beside camera:

http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/members...ure2066-6.html

Great stuff.

Shame it took OutdoorGB a week to post an internet order of a small roll of tape, obviously not an important order at this low value...will find it locally next time.

Re: Rear light LED on Givi Top Box

Ordered some of this yesterday -

HI VIZ DIAMOND GRADE WHITE REFLECTIVE TAPE 50MM X 2.5M on eBay (end time 21-Dec-09 21:49:57 GMT)

Not Solas tape, but we'll see how it does.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Re: Rear light LED on Givi Top Box

The Solas tape cost £5 from Outdoorgb.com, postage was £3 - worth the wait then!

If the stuff off fleabay is not up to the job, then I'll try these guys.

Was checking yesterday and some sites wanted £20 for postage to Ireland!!!

Re: Rear light LED on Givi Top Box

Just seen the price on fleabay...spoton there! They should do Ire post for a decent price too, it's just a roll of tape so can go in a small jiffy bag, bugger all weight too so shouldn't be over £3/5 to Ire.

Re: Rear light LED on Givi Top Box

There are loads of different grades of reflective tape

With the Solas tape the cheaper stuff reflects at a shallower angle so the light source needs to close to the eye for maximum light reflectiveness, the expensive stuff will reflect light from a larger angle

its similar to red eye in photography when the flash is close to lens the light passes through the iris and reflects back to the camera when the angle is increased you lose red eye
