quick steering and lighting MOT questions

My bike's MOT runs out tomorrow (oops) so I need to get it MOT'd- the only possible problems that I'm not sure about are:

Sidelight doesn't work (isn't present)
At full lock hand guards foul on tank

I can see nothing in the MOT list that states that there must be a working sidelight (it has been removed completely). It states the bars must not foul on the tank, but nothing 'hard' hits the tank- it's only the edge of the soft plastic hence why I haven't bothered changing it. Will this matter?

Take the handguards off ,any lights fitted must work ,take a roll of gaffer tape with you and if there is a problem with the lights just tape them up and get a daytime m.o.t ,no difference from the normal m.o.t slip

Or just slacken the handle bar braces and move the bars up until they clear the tank (tighten them up) - get the MOT and then put the bars back to where you have them afterwards

Re: quick steering and lighting MOT questions

I do not think the sidelight ( parking light has to work ) I have removed mine.
The steering on the other hand must not foul on any part of the bodywork.

Re: quick steering and lighting MOT questions

Removed hand guards just in case, but they didn't like my bent bars so went home and swapped them for my straight set. Got told off for not having a side light (it's got a switch for it) so promised him I'd put it back in and he passed the bike
