Arai helmet.

We were mooching around bike shops in Edinburgh today as I fancy treating myself to a new crash helmet. Tried a few places to no avail then went to Stormtrooper central in Dalkeith and I found an Arai Chaser in my size. The helmet was a great fit, felt really comfy and great looking build quality, I wandered around the shop wearing it and it seemed to be the one but I am looking for opinions from anyone who has one as to what they are like when actually being used on a bike (Frad, are you listening?)
Anyone else out there got one, what is your opinion of them?

Re: Arai helmet.

I heard Ya

I love mine most comfy thing Ive ever had my head in

Phil Pigugly has one too but has complained about noise, but that might be his screen on the TA mine has a MRA vario on so I dont have any noise problems

I have always had Arais they just suit my head shape I guess

Pinlock is fantastic, vents are good in the heat, and did I mention it was comfy

Go for it you wont be dissapointed

Yep, wot he said

Maybe not the quietest lid out there but I find them sooo comfy, my previous one (Quantum f) is 10 years old & still comfy & snug - if a bit smelly .

Arai (look for their 'service team' at bike shows) will adjust the the padding to get a perfect fit for you.

They inspected the shell/altered the padding in my old lid when it was about 7 yrs old & said that it was a bit worn but good for a few more years yet - so much for the 5yr replacement myth!

Drop it or have an off send it back to them, they'll examine it & suggest whether the helmet is safe or not - it could save the cost of a new lid.

These services are FOC on any Arai of any age.

As Frad says, the pinlock system is superb but the visors are a bit fiddly to remove/install.

I tried just about every lid on the market before buying the Chaser a couple of years ago, they either felt cheap, uncomfortable or both.

Vanessa feels the same about her Astro light.......

If it's comfy, go for it. You won't regret it

Phil

Re: Arai helmet.

Thanks guys, that will be me convinced then! Now all I have to do is decide on the colour I want, leaning towards silver or perhaps a nice white one, must be an age thing.

Re: Arai helmet.

Have you tried Forth Gear in South Queensferry? They do mail order and we get a good discount. See in the http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/discounts-deals/ forum

Re: Arai helmet.

Thanks for the link Boris but it seems they don't do Arai lids, I tried Shoei helmets and they do not fit my bawheid properly hence the choice of Arai as they do fit me nicely.
