    XR400

Just putting the feelers out as its time... maybe for the XR to go. It is a 52 plate that has been extensively looked after with a lot of money spent getting it sorted.
It is on 12000 kms and has just had new cam chain tensioner, recent re bore and new piston and rings and also head sorted out. Shes burning nil oil now and runs just sweet. I will sell for £1500 in standard trim or with new 15l Clarke tank and new graphics £1800. Mot'd and tax until next March
I will post pics but my laptop is away getting fixed and the pics are on there so will be a few days in coming

You're one short of a six pack, you know you'll regret it later.

Some guy had a transalp for sale very near to you, but I think he's sold it now

    Re: XR400

As someone has sent a pm regarding more info on this I thought it wise to post up a more comprehensive blurb on this thread so hopefully I wont need to write it all again.

Ok I bought it 2 years ago and was said to have 1800kms on it. I wasnt too sure about believing that as all enduro bikes have speedo cables disconnected so easily but it ran fine for a while. Then it started to make a knocking sound so I put it into a reputable old bike mechanic who did a full engine rebuild. All new bearings cam chain and a large bill for me.
She ran fine but after a 6 month period went by I notyiced a loss of oil and after a while of topping up put it back into the shop where it had new piston rings bore honed and everything else needed to do that ( Im no mechanic). The head was also needing a refresh so valves were done also. Running sweet again, especially since cam chain tensioner has also recently been replaced as they are a known Honda failing, so Im told.
Its now done 12,000 kms on the speedo which is 7500 miles approx and is in better state than when I first had it. It has wanted for nothing and I have changed oil every 1000kms.
It has had 4 former keepers and is a better than aveage XR from what I see on e bay. I have painted the frame with hammerite when the engine was out... good or bad I dont know but I think its looked better for it
It has Raptor titanium footpegs, light and £120 worth, renthal 613 bars, uni air filter and gordons mods on exhaust headers and VW Beetle tip to flow better without being too loud. It also has heavy duty ali bash plate that was purchased from a chap who is a Rally Raid mechanic and Ego Barkbuster hanguards. It has recently had new plastics from Acerbis and graphics.
It also has a clarke tank and graphics that gives it well over 220 kms range.
I am selling because Im just bored with it now and want something different. Lately I seem to be commuting more on it than off roading. I have also recently purchased an expensive mountain bike and want to try and get fitter trail riding that.
