Found : Africa Twin in North West England

    Greetings,

I've been hanging around this forum with my Yamaha for too long... I always wanted an AT - that's how I found you in the first place. A couple of northwest XRV ride outs including Piel island just made me want one more... Today I made the fatal mistake of having a go on one and I can stand it no longer...

So.... I'm looking for a Red White and Blue Africa Twin - in reasonably 'standard' trim or if modded with OEM parts included - around year 2000 - willing to pay £3000-£3200ish for a good example. Ideally looking for something within 50 mile radius of warrington....

    Cheers,
    Andy

I know, its not RWB, its not within 50 miles of Warrington and it's not a 2000 model, but it is very pretty & clean.

    Sorry for wasting your time

Theres a 2001 model on Ebay with 27K on the clock. Its up for £3,495 but its from a dealer so if you go waving your budget you never know.

Honda XRV750 XRV Africa Twin on eBay (end time 14-Jul-10 16:31:21 BST)

Ive seen it on ebay for a few weeks now so its not obviously selling at the dealer price (based in Stafford which isnt too far away).

...and dont' tell me - its also not for sale !

Seriously though - I'm open to offers. Appreciate the criteria in my post have quite possibly narrowed the options down to about 3 people in lancashire who are already on here and not intending to sell...!

Think my most rigid criteria is RWB - I decided about 10 years ago that would be the one I would buy !!!!

Reason for wanting a newer bike is I like that shape, and I'm looking for something reliable & in as close to original order as poss - or at least with only tasteful/necessary mods...

Main reason for mentioning radius from warrington is that I am a serious buyer but I realistically I don't have the time to be travelling all over the country looking at bikes, and I wouldn't want to waste anybodys time...

Yes I've seen that one... Buying from Stafford Motorcycles looks a bit like selling out to 'the man' to me. They always seem to be selling a lot of ATs but always at what seem to be quite well inflated prices. They seem to be trying to drive up the market price... This bike is 'suspiciously cheap' for them - most of their similar bikes seem to be in the 4.5k-5k range, so suspect its not in as good order as the few pics on ebay make it look... I'd rather buy off a genuine owner if poss at a reasonable price...

Thanks for the encouragement tony - good to know people have a positive experience buying through here.

Have been looking long and hard at Matt's ad.... It's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for... Guess I'm just stuck on that 6 hour + round trip just to have a look... Suppose I'm concerned at how that affects the buying decision.... i.e. I just know if I invested all that time/money in the trip to see it I would definitely put more pressure on myself to buy, regardless...

I'm starting to feel a bit like one of those annoying people on Location, Location, Location who wants a 12 bedroom mansion in central london and has a budget of 120,000.... and will not compromise on either criteria !

Guess I just wanted to check nobody nearer is considering selling something good before I start travelling further afield...

    Why buy close to home
Bought my last GSA in Edinburgh and had a 550 mile ride home on my new bike
What can be better then taking your new bike for a long run straight away
They call him "Ze Quiet one"
I listen to what the rice crispies tell me to do

Have to agree that the ride home is the best part - bought my @ in Birmingham and enjoyed the ride home to Belfast

Bike is black and will shortly be up for sale
