2001 Varadero XL1000 - £2,750

I am selling my rather special 2001 Varadero (XL1000 VY). 10 months tax and MOT. Full working order. Starts and runs great. Tidy, and in regular use (rode back 700 miles from France in April; just been out today for a 50 mile round trip to get a pint of milk). You could pick it up from my place and head straight for the Med, or the destination of your choice, no worries.

It has 73,000 kms (45,350 miles) on the clock; custom made seat (v. comfortable, definitely pillion approved!); Leo Vince silencers (sound the business); Alpos aluminium panniers; large Givi topbox; progressive fork springs; Hagon rear shock absorber; Michelin Annakee 2s with lots of tread; after-market hand-guards, chain guard, footrests, etc.

It comes with spare new Honda chain and sprockets set; another spare rear sprocket; spare new air filter; spare brake pads; spare clutch cable; Owners handbook; and also a Motrax electronic speedo kilometres to miles converter (not fitted – I’ve marked up MPH speeds on the clock rim).

I bought this from Phil in France only a few months ago (see earlier ad on this forum). Those who know him will be aware he had this bike for some years, and he and Jaxx have toured far and wide on it. My reason for selling is nothing to do with the bike, which is fine. I’d rather not sell it, but I have both hit a financial rough patch (and hence need to raise some cash, and the Vara is worth more than my Transalp), and some other issues have come up which mean I’m now not going to be able to make the longer trips I was planning for the Vara. Since buying it I have ridden it back from France, re-registered it in UK, fitted UK number plate, replaced rear wheel bearing, replaced headlamp with brand new (ouch, pricey!) UK one (dips left), MOT’d and taxed it, bought various spares, and ridden it around Norfolk.

This is a really great bike. I'll be sad to see it go, and hope someone out there will appreciate it, and enjoy clocking up some miles on it!
