I would much better prefer a F800GS.
Lighter, better mileage, same power as a 1150 with better power/weight ratio... is that good! Try it...
It's not a boxer... but i loved that engine, handling, everything... except protection compared to my TA.

Anyone thinking about an F800GS needs to try one. It certainly wasn't the bike I thought it was going to be. I was hoping for a mini-KTM990 but it feels worse off road and worse on (yes, it's cheaper though and I never thought I'd be saying that about a BMW).
I found the 800 a little on the small side, especially after the ADV. not enough road presence for me.
That's the F800GS I took out for a spin. Nice machine and would suit my needs better than an R1150 or R1200GS.
However, now I've got an RD04 up and running to play with (and one in pieces to fix), I have enough entertainment to take my mind off wanting an F800GS. In fact, I think I actually prefer the RD04 over the F800GS especially considering how many of them you can buy for £8k!
XL650VY - TKC80's, Mivv Suono "silencer", Arrow Headers, PAIR system removed, 125 mains, Renthal 677 bars, MRA Vario Screen, Scottoiler, Honda Main Stand, Daytona Heated Grips, Sparkbright Charge Monitor
That's one of the better things!
But you can also have this if you like...

I tried the BMW F800ST a couple of years ago and I didn't like a single thing about it. To be brutally honest the F800GS may be a great bike or may be not but I don't feel about spending that much on a brand new bike which I would be throwing around on everyday roads. A second hand R1150GS would be considerably cheaper.
Right now I am between a hammer and a anvil: the Transalp is really starting to fall apart. Headrace bearings have acquired the distinctive "shot" feel, the rear shock is losing damping, the camchains have become noisey... would cost more to fix all these things just in spare parts than what the bike's worth. Common sense would dictate changing it as soon as possible but thanks to a financial genius (not me) I am not in position to change it right now. hence it will have to soldier on until... it breaks down since I am not that optimistic about this mess solving anytime soon.
BM as a second bike I'am hoping to get a second hand KTM smashing HP2 ENDURO if every thing goes to plan.I love theKTM 990 but the size I'am I think it would feel like riding a unicycle. so I saw mavricks HP2 and thought I need that bling. must work harder for more money![]()
