F650 GS DAKAR engine bars...

My oppo just got himself 2 bikes due to piss poor planning and general stupidity, a real BMW fanatic who now has the f650 GS and F650 GS Dakar, the latter being the one he'll keep. He's listed questions on UKGSers but has had no reply, so he asked if I'd do a little bit of asking for him on my friendly honda site.

Question one. Which engine bars come with good recommendations. Considering level of protection and durability (he has a habit of dropping bikes!)?

Question two. Is there any difference in the mounting points for lugguage racks between pre and post 2004 models?

I tried to pursuade him to get an @ but he wouldn't listen, hey-ho you can only do so much.

650 GS is a great little bike, maybe better than a @ for many things
