Good luck to him, it will be great to watch Dakar again, all be it in a new format. Hes a steady eddie, but if I could ride half as good as him I would do well. His X challenge at the dirt bike show was beautiful
Aussies are also good at the 'sit down sports' as well as the Brits. Good Luck Simon and we all hope you do well - MarkR

Good luck to Simon and all the Brits taking part in trhis years Dakar. I think the temperature and altitude are going to play a big part such as fuel systems having to be altered to cope with the thinnner air and riders getting a bit colder if they break down. Friends of mine have run in both the Sarhara and the atacama deserts and they have all said the Atacama is far more inhospitable with its terrain. Cant wait for it this is going to be a proper test man v the elements![]()

I read a report about roadbooks and GPS there was a small comment about how they used to compete in desert rallies and especially the Dakar, with maps and compass and lots of getting lost.
Not taking anything away from anyone who competes (they are more worthy than I)
The terain challange will make the rally more exciting I just hope its mechanical failures and not through injory that riders have to pull out
