Fionaann I test rode the supermoto one of these, it had grin factor but was a bit mad. I was surprised just how tall it was, I am 5ft 8 and was on tiptoes in fact the dealer lowered it for me to ride it.
The seat is very firm so long distance would be difficult and there is absolutely no protection from the elements.
That being said it's very light and extremely agile, I found it easy to throw into corners and it gave loads of confidence when riding it.
I guess it depends on what you want from a bike, because I do so much distance and touring it just wasn't the bike for me.

thanks for the advice, when me and jim went to the bike show i sat on the g650x country, my balls of both feet were flat on the ground, it felt so comfertable, its a new bike so not sure where i would get one to have a shot, im selling my 535 virago,![]()
Try your local BMW dealers for a test ride. The one Sharri rode was road biased, the Xcountry is mud biased and will ride differently.
X Challenge is mud and off road, X country is road, X moto is bonkers not much wind protection on any of them, but good bikes

the XRV and X country are so so different.. when you say your size are you tall or slightly less than average???
XRV is a comfy bike that eats up the miles, its a big beast and feels solid. the x country is a smaller. lighter and more nippy bike, tiny turning circle and ideal for bike courses...but thats about it after a while it becomes a chore and not fun at all..
we were thinking of buying a dozen for the school but BMW wouldnt offer any sort of deal.. So now were looking at the Aprilia Pegaso, this is similar to the x country but has been about longer and is low and cheap.
We tried each for a week and all the instructors prefer the Aprilia..
Oh one last thing, consider the Triumph Tiger with or without a lowering kit (£180)
Oh and they're quite tall
im only 5ft2, i did think of the aprilia pegaso but jim said it was tall but dont know how tall, cheers for the advice guys,![]()
Fiona I saw one of these in the flesh yesterday and it's a tidy height but still nuts.
You'll have lots of fun on it if that's the type of bike you want
