Possibly the northest BMW in the world

A friend just came back from a tour as a Guide at Svalbard, and knowing I'm into bikes he took a photo of the only one he saw.
(A part of the ship my mate was working on can be seen in the background at right)

It's from the harbour in Ny-Ålesund.

It's got to be one of the few bikes on the island of Svalbard, and since there is hardley any roads, the odometer reading can not be that high

Looking at the map, there can't be places with bikes much more North than this. (1230km from the North pole)

Re: Possibly the northest BMW in the world

I think apart from that tank that it is a Basic

The white front forks giving it away

Can someone not resize that picture Feck it's big!

I "think" I make the badge as R80GS pity I can't see the frame number but my software is very basic

The rest of it looks "right"

Yep, R80GS Basic.

The forks give it away, the front caliper, the paralever in the back, the bigass WP shock, the cross-spoked rims, the stainless can, basically everything from the tank on down.
