    Possibly the northest BMW in the world

    A friend just came back from a tour as a Guide at Svalbard, and knowing I'm into bikes he took a photo of the only one he saw.
    (A part of the ship my mate was working on can be seen in the background at right)

    It's from the harbour in Ny-Ålesund.

    It's got to be one of the few bikes on the island of Svalbard, and since there is hardley any roads, the odometer reading can not be that high

    Looking at the map, there can't be places with bikes much more North than this. (1230km from the North pole)

    i like that,but i bet it spends a lot of time hidden away from snow and ice.

    well it looks like a nice 'conversion' to a GS basic to me.
    heres another thats in the process of being converted for the 'Big Trip'
    below is my mates who will venture with his up there soon!
    we may all make a trip to that neck of the woods, after all its only COLD some of the time!!!

    I think apart from that tank that it is a Basic

    The white front forks giving it away

    Can someone not resize that picture Feck it's big!

    I "think" I make the badge as R80GS pity I can't see the frame number but my software is very basic

    The rest of it looks "right"

    Yep, R80GS Basic.

    The forks give it away, the front caliper, the paralever in the back, the bigass WP shock, the cross-spoked rims, the stainless can, basically everything from the tank on down.
