    8ooGS fuel consumption

    BMW says 3.81 litres per 100k at constant 90kph - that's 74mpg.
And 5.21 at constant 120kph, which is just 54mpg.

So what's it like at 80mph or even 90mph?

Compared with RD04 it appears to be 12% lighter dry and perhaps 13 or 14% lighter fully loaded with fuel etc. And it has a sixth gear and modern engine management.

Surely it can do better than that?

Has anyone changed sprockets yet on a GS800?

    Chris at 80mph I get between 59 - 65 per gallon

It's a 17 litre tank and I will get between 200-210 miles to and from work which is mainly motorway at 80mph

Stop fannying about and get yourself one of these

I used to get an average of 110 MPG, winter commute, rural twisties or ragging the harse off it at 60 miles an hour on the A12 or M25.

I've also carried a full drum kit, 2 boxes of bits, and a pillion on it simultaneously, and still got 110mpg.

    Oh yes.

Is that George With the bike?

I had an MZ 125 I eventually gave to my dad for Fathers day. He used to go and see jazz a few miles away a couple of times a week.

He'd ring me every six months to ask me what kind of petrol it used because he had done so many miles he couldn't remember if it took unleaded or not.

Yep. I think if I only went to work on it I used to fill it up twice between October and March

I have to say, I was eyeing up Sharrie's bike on Sunday.

    Hmmmmm.......
