I think the 1150 is a better looking bike if only they had the same build quality as the early Hondas.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Don't you go tempting fate now Russ. I must admit I do fancy a shot of a GS 1200 though. I've now had the varadero over 3 years now and I should be due a change but I just can't think what to replace it with when the varadero ticks all the boxes. I suppose its a case of if it ain't broken and all that.

You never know. Some kind soul might give me a shot of one in Germany next year and change my mind

Having had both I should point out the 1200GS is a totally different beast to the 1200GSA

In what way Mike? I know there are some differences in tank size and other bits but from a riding and day to day ownership perspective is there much between them?

1200GS is lighter, has different suspension travel, smaller tank and if memory serves me correctly the gearing is different. 1200GS wheels are cast and not spoked, different screen .

Have a look here Click on 1200GSA in the 2nd column.

Can I suggest the Triumph Tiger? Will do the same things you want to do with the Vara, but what an engine!

'07 KTM 990 Adventure (Crash Bars, Scottoilter, 16t front sprocket, Throttle Cam. Colour: Black & Grey)
    '93 DR800 BIG (Fully farkled!)

    Gone but not forgotten:
'04 Tiger (MRA-Vario screen, Crash bars, K&N Airfilter, dual headlamp upgrade. Colour: orange, 'cause I'm Dutch, innit!)
    '93 ZZR600

I'm on the Safe House List! Garage and minor toolkit available...

An original 50s or 60s Truimph could find space in the garage but no chance with one of the modern ones. The last one I rode was the TT600 and that was a big letdown. Much as I would love them to be a serious player there is just too many people having problems with them to be seen as a serious alternative to Honda and BMW.

I've not heard of many problems with the previous Tiger (955i) had it (still do actually) for 2 years, and no major problems...

2 Guys did a RTW on them without any problems...

I thought the 955 was known as a reliable bike...
