There's enough riders on here swear by the GS's, they can't all be wrong........can they, Theres an awful lot of them out there spanning many years with huge milage on them, some clocking up well into hundreds of thousands of miles, Like all vehicles they suffer the odd problems (eg. the 2006 models and the drive issues) but then the mighty hondas are not without problems.

Oh and welcome to the forum

Now Tramp that's not a very nice welcome is it

Welcome to the site Peakaboo, we have quite a few members who have GSA and swear by them

Mabel's old man has had one for years and loves it, J. has just bought one and loves it. We all went on a ride down to spain in the summer, not a problem with either of them. (although my 800 GS was better than either but don't tell them that )

There are some problems that are reported with it but I guess it's the same no matter what you buy.

If I had read the reviews about the 800GS I'd never had bought one but I did and I love it.

Take it for a test ride, and if you like it then go for it

What you're going to get on here is a load of old claptrap from people who've never been near or ridden one.

I'm on my second, it's done 9,000 miles in six months and hasn't missed a beat. Can't beat them for road presence. I should point out that they're big, heavy things when you're pushing them around and they're quite tall.

I love it, J loves his, Vader loves his (despite the final drive problems. His is the oldest )

It goes well, is economic, my 09 averages nearly 50 mpg and is very comfortable. If you're dull enough you can take them off road as well. Have a good test ride, at least 3 or 4 hours and then buy it. You won't be sorry.

A GSA or normal GS12 OR 115O would suite DC as his bike spends most of the time on its side. The Beemer would just rest on one of its 3 side stands not his legs
