DIY Roadbook.....Instructions (well sort of)!!

Hi all,

Well after showing my DIY roadbook on the forum a couple of months ago I have decided to detail how I done it for less that £10.

Firstly you need to purchase the aluminium box from Maplin, part number XB56 Chassis AC64 @£2.89 each. When you order this you need the knobs, also from Maplin. Part numbers FK40 & FK41, you need two of each.

I used 6mm bar from old paint rollers cut to length between the knobs and another two lengths for the paper rollers at the top.

You will need to fit some sort of guide either side to the rods that hold the paper to so the paper can be fitted between the inner lip when loading.

My second prototype (not pictured) used a 6mm allthread and a large penny washed held in the correct position with a nut either side.

The perspex lid was just a 2mm sheet offcut I had lying around.

I am currently developing the reasily removeable lip with velcro and the weather seal using a rubber strip along each side.

I will post more when the second prototype has been reassembled.

Any specific questions please just PM or reply on here.

Rolls of paper available from kitped Ltd at £19.99 each

No. I just print off the route directions from the AA website. I copy the route data and paste into a word document. Then just drag the margins in to 124mm and guilloteen into strips and get busy with the sellotape.
