Fitting Stebel Magnum to 2004 Transalp

Right then, I think that I've chased away all the gremlins (famous last words) and got my new Stebel Magnum horn fitted to my 2004 Transalp.

To start, remove the plastic bash plate and the original horn together with it's mounting bracket. This last step does involve the removal of the two front engine mounting bolts so the bracket can be removed. The socket head bolt in the photo below is part of the Grave crash bar mounting kit, by the way.

So, now we have space for the horn -

The new bracket fits onto the bolt that holds the bash plate mounting frame, like this -

The bracket I made looks like this -

And looks like this when fitted to the horn -

Here's a sketch of the dimensions of the bracket. These were taken after I'd made the bracket, as it was a bit of "suck it and see".

There's a small twist in the bracket and that can be seen here -

The reason for the bend in the bracket can be seen here (just) -

And from the front, it looks like this -

The plastic bash plate will now fit back on with no fouling. No photo of this but then again you cannot see that the horn has been fitted as it is almost totally obscured by the bash plate.

Just had to make up two short extensions for the horn leads, about 5 or 6 inches long. Male spade connector one end and female the other.

Job done. No more "parp, parp" noises, this sounds like a horn should.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
