Question Trying my hand at electrics

I want to fit a supplementary wiring loom to the sidecar of my Ural outfit. This will include a spot light (H3 55W), another smaller light (5Watts?) and a socket for heated jackets (40watts-ish?).

Given that potentiall the jacket and the spot could, conceivably be working at the same time, I have slightly heavier cable running to the side car, and then I plan to have lighter leads running to the fuses of the individual components.

    Question.

What is the best way to split the circuit and attach three lighter leads to the main power line from thbe bike? I can't think of anything tidier than a connector block with three wires stuffed into one side, or soldering the4 collective wires together, both of which soulnd a bit untidy...

Also who supplies decent connectors? I want tough, waterproof ones.

What i would do is wire a relay in use it switched with the ignition so when you turn the bike of it becomes dead. Then go to a scrap yard and nick a cicarette socket from an old car. Then go to lidls or somewhere like that and they are selling adaptors that you plug into the socket and will give you 2 or 3 power sockets depending on which adaptor you buy. Easy Peasy. the spot lights should also be running a separate relay asw well due to current draw. hope this helps

I would go the Relay route too. Heavy duty wire to the relay (situated on the bike), heavy duty wire (seperate with a waterproof connector) to a small fuse box (on the side car) and then wire rated to it's intended use.

This would give proctection to the bikes main wiring, flexibility to remove the sidecar if required (waterproof connector) and future proof for adding miore items by wiring into the fuse box.

Just make sure that the alternator is capable of supplying the required amps too.
