Here's my PC power supply fan fitted to my Reg/Rec unit.



It was a tight squeeze in the end as the fan was hitting the side panel - I had to make a bracket to move the unit higher up to stop it, but it works fine I just need to add some form of protection underneath as its still a bit exposed to spray from the back wheel.

Plus I may need to add some holes or a mesh filled cut-out to the side panel as there's not much room between it and the fan so although its pushing air fine, it might just help it out a bit..........

Well, I trooped over to the member gallery to have a look at the photos with a view to trying to help sort the problem out. Then I wandered back to your post and, viola, the piccy was there.

Beats me. But hey, the job's done.

Cheers, I was bored and wiring in the elecric fans on the discovery (from a Pug 407), although a similar job, didnt flick my switch as I'm gonna have to re-make most of the loom, so this little job filled some time in for me today whilst waiting for mini-stageone to come home from school............

One minor nitpick:

You sure it doesn't blow away from the heatsink? All the computer fans I've seen blow towards the side with the connecting spokes that's visible in the pic...

I don't think that it matters. It is the flow of air that is important.

I looked at that - the back of the unit (the side nearest the frame) is the resin filled area - the finned casing (effectively the heat-sink) sits outermost and the fan is blowing, more like sucking really, air away from it - taking the heat with it. If it was to blow the other way it would be blowing hot air back onto the heat-sink so wouldnt be as effective?

Like Lutin says, the main thing is that there is now a positive flow of air around the unit which will help take any heat away, or thats the theory anyway............

CPU manufacturers seem to think otherwise, as they're all blowing onto the heatsink.

That said, anything's better than having no fan at all.
