Fitting Trax Panniers to Givi Racks on Transalp

    Hi All,

Listen up... I want to fit a set of Trax Panniers, (see link)

Bykebitz Motorcycle Accessories Ltd TraX Side Panniers

to my 1999 Transalp, which is fitted at present with Givi racks which I would like to keep on. I emailed the guys at BykeBitz who said

"You will need to remove the givi from your bike and start over with sw-motech frame work. You buy the sw-motech pannier rails, trax fitting kit, trax boxes and locks."

Now, I can't see why I need to do this as surely their "adaptor kit", (see link)

Bykebitz Motorcycle Accessories Ltd Adaptor Kit - for TraX Side Cases

could easily be made to fit on to the side of my Givi racks?

I'm no stranger to a bit of welding, drilling, bashing etc... like I said, I can't see with a bit of adapting why the "adaptor kit" can't make these panniers fit, but what do you guys think... any advice, has anyone done a similar mod?

Also, has anyone bought a set of TraX; if so what do you think of them?

    Cheers

I'm not all that familiar with Givi racks, but I think you'd need to grind off the various lugs an catches and make some way to bolt on the adaptor. The problem is that the rails are already rather thin and drilling them might take out all the metal!

I think the SW Motech brackets are reasonably cheap; if it were me I'd investigate that route first. Alternatively use generic pannier case clamps from Touratech/wherever.

Old thread now, but I have the same problem, I have a Givi rack and would like to keep it since I also would like to use my Givi bags as well as a set of SW-Motech TRAX boxes.

I know I can buy and install a SW-Motech rack, and buy adapters for the Givi bags to be installed on a SW-Motech rack, but I'm a bit thight with the money, and I would prefere not to throw away the Givi racks.

The link above, did not produce any ansers, so I have sendt an e-mail in German to see what they can come up with.
