    Very interesting

I had the mark 2 version and was asked by a local dealer to production race it to see what it could do as a stock bike - with a bit of suspension tweaks i.e. raising it by 25 mm I had loads more ground clearance and if I put my feet up on the engine when going around corners to allow the footpegs to fold up the rear brake pedal and rear diff would scrape the floor

Went through loads of rocker covers and a cylindar head though when I fell off

Great fun and unbreakable motor - hardly ever used 5th gear as it would run faster to stay in 4th at 11,500 rpm

02 RD07a RWB, Powerbronze tall screen, Remus Grand Prix, TT crash bars, TT pannier frame, Zega style panniers, Alpos top box,TT bar risers, TT headlamp guard, Heated grips, mainstand, Heidenau K60s for road and light offroad, TKC80s for the dirty stuff, Scottoiler, Autocomm, TT Zumo mount, Zumo 550 and most of all A BIG GRIN !!! Oh, and a very nice RD04 HRC coloured Marathon Replica

One of a matching pair I saw at the Kent custom show in 1990. Saw the other one being ridden at speed across a ploughed field, the bloke fell off pretty quickly.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

They are pretty robust. Back in my courier days a guy drove from London to Bristol with no water in one of these. It got so hot all the silver lacquer on the engine turned gold - but the bike still ran!

at the coupes moto legende last year there were a set of three or four cx500 cafe racers giving it large around the track.
they were great custom jobs, really professional and high standard. a couple had polished heads and one had the whole bike inc engine in various shades of black and gray, matt and gloss. it was superb. made me want to do one

A few weeks ago I chased (but couldn't quite catch) a CX500 or 650 turbo along the old A120. It looked like new from the back.
