Cr#p catcher for 125 Varadero... (now with pics)

Seeing as it decided to ruin my plans of a ride out today by snowing again I thought I would have a look to see if its possible to put in a deflecter on the baby Vara in the same way people have on its big Brother. Unfortunately theres nowhere quite as obvious as on the larger bike.

Has anyone done this before? If not I have a plan I am going to try out on Sunday to make one and will post pics once its more than an idea in my head, I think it should be resonably succesful and certainly a lot cheaper than a hugger which now seems to be around the £180 mark (so far I think mine should cost under £10)

Watch this space... or dont if it goes horribly wrong and is embaressingly bad

No shame in trying to save a few quid i've bodged a lot and saved a few quid. So far this xmas i saved £20 by making the wife a cable to connect her ipod to her car stereo. Cost me £0.70 for to 3.5mm connecters and she's happy

In between it attmpeting to snow I have been and sorted the mk1 Cack-Catcher from as piece of old doormat I had lying around. It will hopefully do the job until I make another better one or I find a suitable hugger from a different bike that I can bodge to fit without spending £160 on a "proper" baby Vara hugger!

The flap feeds up into the under seat area and is held in place with a couple of zip-ties, then I've put on another couple of zip-ties to stop it moving sideways which locate on the frame half way down the flap so that together with the notch on one side it shouldnt be able to interfere with the chain.

Thanks Critch, I've been reading that forum now that I have sorted out the problems with being able to register for it. I am keeping an eye out for a suitable hugger from another model so may well go down that route soon. In the meantime, my hi-tech piece of doormat will stop my damper coroding too much before I get a proper solution sorted
