    Who own what !!!!!!

Thanks for starting the Bultaco Subgroup up.

Ok to get things going I thought that we could start by finding how many of Senior Bulto's creations are lurking out there amongst you..

I have a Bultaco Mk12 Pursang, from about 1976 Its a twin shock scramble bike 250cc and Ive had it for over 20 years. Its probably 15 years since I rode it and fair while since I had it rumming . Its more or less all complete and in generally good nick , but I have an ignition fault to fix. Perhaps having the forum and some contacts with similar bikes for techi questions will spur me on..

I'll post some photos when I can clear enough space in the garage to get to it.

    Anyone else ?

I used to have one of these but it was RH gearshift and great fun off road and through trails, but when you went up too steep a hill and had to quickly change down a gear the inevitable left foot stab of the rear brake only made matters worse so I flogged it after one too many off's but now you can get conversions kits so I wish I'd kept it.

Regrets, I hate selling bikes generally but at the time I must have needed the cash.

Nice to see it. The photo of my one is the blue one in the middle of the picture. Ots one of the few pictures I have of it . . . the rest taken before digital cameras were invented. Its a Pursang Mk 12 250cc conventional gear change. !!

Just got a reminder there from MCsanandreas that I havent updated this recently.

Added fresh fuel, changed the oils, and have fixed the ignition fault and the Bultaco is once again the noisy, smelly old machine that I remember.

It starts easily and sounds superb although the neighbours probably havent yet worked out what is making all the noise and where its coming from.

Love the smell of 2 stroke oil.

Just waiting for my mate to get his KTM 300 exc running so that we can have a proper day out. Cant wait to get those ear plugs in and go play. !!!!

    Re: Who own what !!!!!!

All this talk of Bultaco's is going to get me wanting one again. I had a 1968 radially finned 250 sherpa T, 4 gears I think, first non villiers engined trials bike .
It was so light, simple to work on and Sammy miller bits were plentyfull and very cheap.
Very envious of the Pursang, always wanted one,I suppose they demand big money now?

    More pics please
    Cheers

    Re: Who own what !!!!!!

I have spent days in the sammy miller museum looking at these bikes and even considered putting a set of coveralls on and riding one out for a blast. But they would phone the police and i would have to give it back.
I watched sammy send off one of the vintige runs last year....what a LEGEND And the more you find out about what he won the more you realise how special he is......

    Re: Who own what !!!!!!

The bike is actually very simple, no battery, single coil and plug, basic 2 stroke design without fancy powervalves etc and no other clever mechanisms to go wrong.

My mates KTM on the other hand is a fairly sophisticated piece of equipment. It is designed to be lightweight and seems to be over-engineered in a lot of areas.

Basically the Bultaco is a robust heavyweight compared to the lean and mean KTM equivalent.

Once we get them out on the trails then it will be interesting to make the comparison between them given that there are 20 - 25 years difference in age. I suspect the Bultaco will actually be the better choice for the fun factor although as a competion bike the KTM is the clear winner.
