    Magazines for troops

Not the sort you might think they want, but there you go.

Found this while looking for something else, it is a verified genuine request, and gives me the chance to get shot of dozens of back issues of bike and ride etc.

"I am currently running a camp in Helmand Province in Afghanistan and I would like to get as many people as possible to send my blokes (many are very keen bikers) your read bike mags. I apologise for the direct approach but due to having to cater for everyone's tastes bike mags are not delivered as part of our Operational welfare package.

The postage is free( upto 2kg), all it would cost is the envelope.

The postal address is you would like to help is:

QM, TFH, Lashkar Gar, BFPO 715

Any help will be greatly appreciated and all mags will be read multiple times.
    Thanks
    Major Andy Lothian

This has been checked by a member of the Honda Owners Club, who is also a serving RAF officer and it is completely legitimate. So get sending! If it makes our soldiers life a bit better, it's worth it.

    re , Magazines for Troops
What an excellent idea, is there any way this posting can be kept in prominent view, posts in "recent threads" do tend to get lost quite quickly, and, I guess, the more members/visitors who see this one, the better.
    All the best, Dogwheel.

That's brilliant! Any idea if there's a web-site / e-mail to find out if other mags could be sent? (I'm on a mountain-bike forum, which could generate a lot of literature, but don't want to send anything they can't use)

    Re: Magazines for troops

I shall definitely be doing this.

I also fully intend to write a personal message of thanks on each mag, thanking our troops for their hard work in difficult situations.

    Nice one

    Re: Magazines for troops

I can confirm that address is a good one,
Any mag's will be greatfully recived and iv got to say this is a good idea as the mag's out there are all FHM and Maxim types, nothing for bikes or cars generally, even Mcn once you have read them.
