    Old wax off of plastic

The guy who own my AT before me got some wax on the air filter cover, leaving some whitish swrirls deep in the texture of the plastic (don't you just hate that ?). Anone have a solution (theoretical or liquid) for getting that stuff off without damaging the plastic?

    Thanks, Mike

Chad - is that the kinda stuff that makes the plastics all shiny, like what some people use on their car dashboards and tires (that's tyres to you)? I don't particularly like those products because they tend to give an "unnatural" shine. I prefer more natural plastics

I think most of those products are silicon sprays of some sort. It gives a certain "wet-look" (I use it on my hair too ), but the worst shine usually wears of quickly. Otherwise, WD40 will probably dissolve wax. According to some (I can't really say I ever noticed myself), WD40 "dries out" plastics: Since it is petroleum based that is not impossible, so better clean it after using WD40. Again, I would not bother too much, I spray WD40 on anything except brake-disc/pads of course.

Petrol works on ABS plastics, it'll clear of all the old polish residues but will look a 'tired' after, then apply furniture polish (cheap stuff, not with added beeswax bollox), it's less shiney and slippy.
