    Starcom or Autocom?

.....which one to go for? Starcom looks better on 'paper' (well on screen then...) What's the opinion of owners?

No idea about the starcom I'm afraid but the the Autocom seems to have won all the accolades of late.

    If you go to

    http://www.autocom.co.uk/

there is a section comparing Autocom V Starcom. It seems quite conclusive, however they both work well so it could just come down to pound notes.

I've just finished setting up my KIT 6 autocom and I have to say it is awesome.

Mettalica on the way to work is sweet!

I have the starcom system and it works fine although I just tried the GPS through a splitter into the audio input and that cut down the volume on the audio. May change the lead.

I'm sure if you go to the Starcom site they'll have conclusive test/stats in their favour.

I bought the 'old' Starcom system at the NEC this year (£30 off) though the 'old' Autocom 7 (half price) was physically a lot smaller and did the same job. It was an agonising choice and I'd have been happy with either. Once a second headset was costed into the Autocom set up they were practically the same price.

Check out fewtrees review of the Starcom system in the Articles section.

Great review... one thing that confuses me is that the Starcom blurb says you need another cable to connect GPS at £25, that seems a bit steep?

Starcom backup seems to be top notch and they custom make any lead you want.

1 vote for starcom - getting one for this season.

Starcom looked good, but AutoCom on price reduction was cheaper.
couldnt find a startcom dealer down south, and the Autocom dealer let me have a good play with the kit-3 I eventually bought

    Do a comparison..

The starcom has more features, autocom has the well known "brand". I heard at the NEC bike show that Autocom sales guys thought the Starcom was a better unit!

    Thing is..

Both are good and audio quality is more about your helmet with these units. As mentioned the Starcom currently sports more features which aren't noddy but quite useful i.e. Seperate vol & mic/vox sensitivity for pillion etc..

As for comparisons against the competitor.. As if they wouldn't be biased!

So you takes your pick and pays your money!

Mine's worked faultlessly so far, so I would get another if I needed it.

Point is , they are both excellent bits of kit with little to choose between them. It really comes down to £££'s and how far you have to go to buy one. Result all round really
