used AT, where do you find them?

Where is there a good place to look for used AT's? I looked in MCN,the web at various dealersides, but so far found only 3 models for sale.
    is there something i'm missing?
i could do with some pointers please
Is the AT such a rare model or is just nobody selling them once they have one

They were rare when they were being made, so now they're discontinued obviously they're even harder to find. And yep, most owners keep hold of their @'s. And nope, there's sod all down this way. I know, 'cause I've been looking in both Auto Trader and Bike Trader through interest.

Phone a few Honda dealers, see what they have got..

The reason they are not available, is most owners kep ahold of them...

I see them on eBay quite regularly. Bought mine on eBay as well (travelled from Bristol to Newcastle / Northumberland to pick it up). You need a bit of luck of course and hope the seller is trustworthy, but it is not much different than buying it in any other way really.

If you find one, check if the front-brakes are working perfectly fine (good response, no sticking, no "pumping" in the brake lever, no eneven wear on the discs), and the rims don't show too much corrosion: These are known trouble-areas on ATs and very expensive to replace. Also check for noisy fuel-pumps: They will die anyway, even on the best ATs, they're not massively expensive if you go for aftermarket replacement (lots of info on this site) but always worth knocking a hundred quid from the asking price.
Sit on the bike and feel if the chain has free play left. If not, be very worried, damage to the gearbox may already been done.
It is far more unlikely to find one with a dying engine, don't worry too much if the clutch is a bit noisy when idling: "They all do that sir"

If you really cannot find one, maybe try import one from Italy or Germany: They always have been far more popular than here.

    Good luck!
