    Insurance

OK, so not really one for this forum but my son has manged to persuade me to buy him a Moped, well a friend had a moped for sale that was too good to turn down. I have spent most of the evening shopping for quotes which vary from a staggeringly unbelievable £5K to a still unrealistic £320 (Bennetts].

The moped is worth £750 [Honda x8R-s - a step thru thingy], son of course is 16 with no anything to save money.

Any suggestions to save a bit of money or recommended insurers welcome. Oh, and I am away for a couple days so won't be viewing 'til saturday probably.

I've seen a lot of recommendations for e-bike lately.

But I wouldn't have thought £320 isn't actually all that bad a premium for a first timer these days - irrespective of the value of the bike.

I'm with e-bike and they have been the lowest quote for everybody I know who have tried them.

    Cost me £250 for a K reg DT50 back in 2001...so £320 really isn't bad!

£320 doesn't sound too bad for a 'ped.

I think I was paying about that or more back in the 90's!

Thanks all - probably me then, just out of touch with insurance and youngsters. I think the cheapest has been e-bike. I'm going to get it this weekend

had a baby varadero insured last year as a learner, best i could get was £270 and i'm 40 clean licence etc, so your quote doesn't sound that far out.
