RWB @ on A40 near Oxford

heading east on Saturday morning around 9. I was pulled over checking my map (on my way to RAF Halton) when I saw you cruise by. Jumped on the bike and tried to catch up but lost sight of you. Just wanted to say Hiya. Good to see another @ out there enjoying the day.

Blimey! Where were you heading this time? I know we already have an 'Uber Commuter' on the forum but I think we should start calling you 'Navigator' or something similar....

Between commuting from Stroud to Southampton a couple times a week, the monthly trip over to France and my volunteer work, the trip metre is spinning up. I try to avoid the motorway, though. Puts me (and pillion) to sleep. I was on the A40 Saturday morning on my way to a training exercise. I belong to a rapid-response mapping team that gets called in by the UN at times of major disasters (e.g. Pakistan after the earthquake, Sri Lanka after the tsunami, famine in Niger). We go straight in with the S&R teams with GPS units and laptops to map for damage assessment, logistics, heli-zones, convoy access etc... We meet every month to shake out our equipment and run simulations. We also get asked to train response teams in other countries (India, Egypt, Tajikistan, Panama etc...) so we get around. Sometimes feels like a second job but it well worth it. Good bunch of people as well. Coupla bikers in the group.

We saw a blue @ with a KTM (no accounting for taste) at Devils Bridge in Mid Wales on Saturday lunchtime. The Twin sounded lovely the KTM like a sack of S**t.

Wish it'd been me(on the Twin, not the KTM). I only live over near Stroud so getting over the Severn into Wales is easy. When I get a free weekend....
