    Yorkshire offroad

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone as I don't really go offroad on the AT. If this has already been posted, apologies

Yorkshire lanes lost to NERC actA
Yorkshire Dales National Park press release dated May 9 (Tuesday) states the following:
Signs will be going up on public footpaths and bridleways all over the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the next few weeks informing people that there are no public rights on them for recreational motor vehicles
The Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act, (NERC) which was given Royal Assent on March 30, gives National Park Authorities (NPAs) new powers to manage the use of recreational vehicles like 4x4s, motorbikes and quadbikes in the National Parks.
Sections of the Act that came into force on Tuesday, May 2, mean that, apart from some very rare exceptions, it is illegal to drive a recreational motor vehicle on any bridleway and footpath

Not exactly correct. Yes a lot of rights of way have been lost but there is still some B.O.A.T`s and UCR`s to ride. It has always been illegal to ride on a bridleway and footpath. The goverment has given National park`s the power to apply a TRO to any vehicular rights of way, this could even be your favorite tarred road

I have heard of the 'boats' before. I was just quoting out of the trials & motocross news paper.

Trouble is, once they get a foothold in, all paths, roads & the like could be closed for motorised vehicles. I just see it as an excuse to stop people enjoying themselves. TA! Shel
