Sorry, still a bit young for my mid-life crisis!

    Had a '94 VN1500 C2 model for 4 years.

    Good Points
    1. Cheap
    2. Great Engine with shaft drive / water cooling and loads of torque.
    3. Could out decibel most Harleys with drag pipes on it.
    4. Comfortable seat.
    5. Loads of things to polish ! ( see below )

    Bad Points
    1. Spoked rear wheel - could not handle the torque. Eventually respoked with heavy duty spokes after a lot of fannying around.
    2. Brakes - Single front not really up to the job but 100/90 front tyre just as likely to let go anyway.
    3. Handles like a pig in a wheelbarrow - just like any other cruiser!
    4. Rear tyres never seemed to last long.
    5. Loads of things to polish !
    6. Any speeds over 90mph needed 2 lanes of dual carraigeway - capable of 120mph but my nerve and neck muscles + the fear of not stopping the bloody thing held me back a bit!

Very few aftermarket accessories for them compared to Dragstar etc...

    Hope this helps!

If you want a cruiser then they are a pretty good choice - you might as well have the bigger engine one just for the extra grunt. Personally I will never get another cruiser - always thought it was a good choice for going on holiday/trips etc.. but when it came down to it I would always choose the AT over the VN1500. Which is why I still have an 8 year old AT and just done 1800 miles to South of France and back with no problems.
