Ooo, this is exciting! As long as it's not something based on the Vara's engine.. Sorry, but in this day and age there's no excuse for that sort of fuel consumption.

I'm sure some Vara owners will be along shortly to prove me wrong.

Now that would be progress. Especially if it was a turbo as well. Something like 70 bhp and twice the torque of the @ would be sweet, while it would have a tank range something like 500 miles.

    Give me one now!

    Check out the Thunderstar then...

Yes, it's ugly as sin (and then some) but apparently 100 bhp and 200-250 Nm

Now if they'd stick it in a decent allroad frame...

I think it looks rather good, but allroad is better of course.
Runs on bio-diesel as well, that could blow a whole new life and meaning into our, erm, "landscaped" garden.

I wouldn't expect too much revolution though, if there is a new AT to appear it will more likely be a road-biased low-seat mongrol like the Suzi V-strom than an exciting and daring piece of kit the AT once was. Honda only builds predictable mainstream bikes for the big masses these days

Fuel consumption is about 10% higher on my Varadero compared to my AT, not a bad trade off for 55% more power, 59% more torque and 22% more weight. If I start worrying about fuel consumption on my bikes I think it'll be time to sell up!
