    Tourances at Salisbury?

I'm a novice on my TA and would love to join you at Salisbury this weekend. I've just fitted a new Tourance tyre on the back. I know it's not a Dakar tyre but can anyone please tell me from experience if it will do for the weekends ride.

    Are crashbars essential too?

    Cheers

Tourances will be fine (I did the last one on Escapes), crashbars are only essential if you fall off

It's a great place to lose your dirt cherry, IMHO, and there will be loads of other riders to help.

    Cheers

Faantjie jy sal fine wees boet

The forecast seems to be dry which of course will make things easier but more dusty. As Simon said there is usually more than enough fellow riders that don't mind picking bikes up in the mud. I don't have crashbars on either and have dropped it on the Plains but luckilly no damage.

If you really paranoid take your mirrors off when on the plains or just undo them slightly so they turn to the inside when you fall and not snap off.

    Enjoy!

Don't worry about the tyres, I just found the the TKC80's I was hoping to fit on Saturday will not be here for another 10 days

Looks like I will be on Anakee's (road tyres). I did the last one on road tyres, and it was not too bad. They did "clog" at times.

Stoo had no trouble at all on road tyres last time, and he wasn't exactly holding back either!! You'll be fine, come and enjoy it and you'll stop worrying in no time at all. Guaranteed!

    Cheers
