    The Doomsday Scenario

Right, following on from the thread that's suggesting we could find ourselves limited to scooters in the future, I thought I poll was well nigh in order! Note that I think any such law would be total bollards, but that's not the issue.

My own opinion is that I couldn't imagine myself without some form of bike, no matter how emasculated by the idiots in charge. I hate the idea of using a car like the rest of the bovine minded rat-race pilots and would sooner walk than sit in mile long tail backs wondering why no-ones thought of a better way of commuting me to work (whilst grumbling about the 'bloody bikers' streaming to the front past my armoured and air con'd SUV).

    *PHEW*

Sorry - just my opinion of course

voted for the last option, as it is closest to what I should do.

I started riding a bike to avoid sitting in traffic queues. Now, with the fuel prices being extraterrestrial, I'm going to work on my push bike, and use the motorbike for the occasional holiday or sunday trip. I am in the process of finding another job, one of the most important criteria is distance. This way, this is my part in solving the traffic problem.

Over here the government is regulating everything too much as well. With traffic control zones which control your speed over longer distances, taxes being way tooo high etc. The problem however is not the government, but us. We are too spoiled by everything, we have to do something about our mobility. It is us that is causing all the traffic problems, we work too far away from where we live etc. For instance, every morning there is a queue from city A to B, and from B to A. Efficiency problem?

Point being, getting back to the question. I will always have a bike, and I'll just wait and see how things are going. I'm not particularly afraid of bikes being restricted/banned. But I'm already considering every alternative of fueldriven transport.

I'd keep on two wheels, even if I end up back on a scooter.

It will definitely influence my decision on whether I want to stay in the UK/Europe. Still keep riding though. Once it's in your blood....

Haven't owned a car since 1993 and can't imagine going back to one as my primary transportation. I'll ride whatever's out there. Yeah, it'll suck if we're reduced to buzzing around on electric scooters but I have faith in human ingenuity. And besides, two wheels is always better than four.

I have never owned a car, period. I was offered a car recently. Free. Crappy beat-up thing ofcourse but it was tested and running, and I could have it for the cost of transferring ownership...

    I turned it down.

Lets not kid ourselves if these people decide to shaft us they can and being British we will not do a damn thing! look at Hunting, i am not a hunter but support a mans right to do so. To me either life has a value or it does not you cant pick and choose which lives have value. Anyway back to bikes, Brussels is full of people in needless highly paid jobs who if they admitted as such would be unemployed so the result being they "Beaver " away identifying issues which need to be addressed with vigor and vim , the more so the better, as you are then clearly "Important and hardworking ".
Sometimes (Only sometimes ) I wish i was French! Is the Government tries to impose unwanted and unpopular laws on you simply trash the place untill they see the error of their ways . But of course we are not, we will sit in the pub and moan , maybe form an action group even but basically let them push another piece of restrictive Big Brother nanny state nosey Bast **d legislation on us!
