If you were thinking of a brand-new bike - which?

Well, as I've found I'll need a new gear lever, spindle and selector at some point in the not too distant future, and as it's an engine-split job that Honda quote 6.1 hours for , I'm starting to think on maybe a brand-new bike next year, but still in the same 'Adventure' class.

Would prefer to stay in the sub-1000cc range as I don't 'need' anything huge for the island but I'll find out for sure next week when I'm in the south of France if I could do with more than one cylinder

What are the options, both available now and proposed? Obviously, now we have the TA and Varadero from Honda, there's the F650GS and the proposed F800GS from BMW - any rumours about Kawasaki etc?

I've tested the Wee-Strom and found the riding position didn't suit me, and if I'm paying £5K+, I'd rather not spend out more straight away on new bars etc, although this is always an option (plus of course the Strom is ugly as sin )

    Shhhhhh...Kay Tea Emm?

That'd be top of my list, in fact it is top of my list

Good luck on your run to the south, how's James's seat suiting you?

    Cheers

I've tried a 950 - it was an S and my little legs had trouble reaching the ground Addictive engine though but a little too much money-wise for me to be able to save for - I'm looking more towards £6500 or less, I reckon

The seat seems OK so far - but I'll wait and make my final verdict until after I get back from Avignon etc I think it's breaking in nicely though

Glad to hear about the seat, you've got ever such a long way to go!!

I was thinking of a 640 Adventure, have you tried one?

There's a couple in TBM and I started thinking, which is always dangerous, how can I convince the keeper of the purse that I need another bike, another Adventure Bike in fact, and in addition to, not instead of, my AT that I'm going to be buried with

Good luck on the big trip, let us know how it goes!

    Cheers
    -Simon

I tested a 640 LC4 Enduro - and boy did the vibrations make a certain part of me numb

Rumour has it that the replacement 690 Adventure will be out in 2007 - they're already showing the Rallye version on ADVRider.

I bought this last year. What can I say, it's a great bike. Love it to bits.

Have only had one road bike (Suzuki GSX400F grey import) and really couldn't stand the pressure on my wrists
