Having just sorted out myself with an autocom and Motorla PMR 446 radio, I was wondering if anyone else here was considering it.

Give us a clue Von Short Hausen, are you after selling the kits or would you like some info off some of the smarter members?
Have you tried the setup yet? as mine gives quite a bit of interference if the other riders are within about 4/5metres.
TA! Shel
Well neither really...I was just wondering what the likelyhood was of anybody else on a rideout having one. I've used radios professionally all my life, so I wasn't specifically looking for help.Originally Posted by shel750

I've tried my two radios out and they're a bit tinny, but I wouldn't expect any more for £ 30 quid really. Good enough for biking though.
I'll be doing a rideout with Lord Vader soon, so we'll be able to put it to the test at speed.

I'll take your word for it as I haven't a clue I'm afraid. At least it now doesn't look like it's the way I have set the radios up
Do you use the voice operated or the push to talk? Have you a preference? TA!
Mrs.McVicar and I use Autocom with Motorola radios. We use the Vox not PTT and after a few trips getting them sorted we now have crystal clear sound. We have used them up to 90mph so far on the motorway with no detriment to sound quality. It is worth persevering to get them set up correctly the slightest of movement to the settings can make a world of difference.
Well the nice bloke at Whitehouse did me a good deal on a 'slightly used' PTT lead, which I bought whilst I was getting the whole kit. However, once I got the toys home and onto my test bench (well it was raining) I was very impressed with the Autocom's vox facility, and will probably run it like that.
If I do run vox, I'll have to remember not to do what I usually do, ie sing and swear at other road users, or I shall quickly get the title Victor Meldrew !
I'm going to spend some time 'playing' with the phone, gps, PMR, & mp3 settings before I install it. I do appreciate that it all changes when it's on the bike, especially once the noise cancelling mike is affecting the gain, but at least I can get the relative levels set roughly and become familiar with the controls.
Actually, I'm now considering packing all the kit into a tank bag rather than leaving it under the seat of the bike...I'm not happy with it being parked for great lengths of time in railway car parks.
I need to have a long think about the most suitable multiway connector.
Yeah, I've got the motorolas today, pretty good for the money I thought.
Are you mad? I use the time on the bike to get away from the missus nagging in my earMrs.McVicar and I use Autocom with Motorola radios.
