    Attention BMW Riders

    Yes yes, I know Ewan McJedi went round the world on one, and yes I know that makes you better than every other biker out there, and yes, your amazing riding talents are wasted on the roads, but even so, if I nod at you, you are allowed to nod back.

    C***s.

    Be happy in the knowledge that their servicing and repair bills probably amount to the cost of your bike.

    Joining a main carriageway on the way back from the Plain on Sunday, four German GS's went past me, all clean and shiny, while I was caked in mud. They all slowed down, had a good look and waved enthusiastically.
    I think it is UK BMW owners. They think that now they have a BMW they need to behave like Germans. Trouble is their view of how Germans behave is based on Colditz and the Germans have moved on since then.

    When it's just a Beemer, they tend not to wave (here we wave, being able so by riding on the "right" side).
    When in a combined group with other bikes, they wave as well. Having lowered themselves to the working class...

    And don't get me started about the H-D bunch....

    Just read that bloke from Top Gears column in Motorcycle news. He's not happy about the service bill for his 3 year old low mileage GS1150. Seems it's not up to the rough London Streets and all the rear suspension bearings are shot. £600.....
    3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

    1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    He used to take it to Park Lane IIRC. They quoted me 470 quid for a fluid change service or my Adv!

    Don't get me started! I used to have a BMW and found that it was the riders of Japanese bikes that ignored me!

    Riders who don't respond might do so for a variety of reasons:
    - maybe they can see a hazard developing just up ahead that you can't see (because it's behind you);
    - maybe they don't wave/nod on principle because riding a bike is hazardous enough without taking their eyes off the road ahead just to soothe someone else's ego;
    - maybe they're on the Autocom bike-to-bike or mobile and can't do three things at once;
    - maybe they think all this waving/nodding is a load of nonsense;
    - maybe they're just pig-ignorant!

    On three separate occasions years ago I nearly had a major accident, and on all three it was mainly because I'd been distracted looking at other motorcycles. For a while I stopped nodding altogether. Now I use the sight of another bike as a reminder to check my mirrors. If the rider coming the other way thinks I'm nodding my head, fine. I doubt I'll ever meet him/her, so what do I care?

    Great Tits M.O.M. Have you been putting on weight?
